FAQ
================================================================================
Q: What is the Cybersecurity Interview Simulator?
A: It's an AI-powered practice tool that simulates real cybersecurity job interviews. You practice with four interview types (Recruiter, Manager, Team, Director), get natural voice conversation, and detailed feedback.
Q: Do I need internet to use it?
A: Yes. The app needs internet for license validation, AI interviews (OpenAI), and optional update checks. Voice features require an OpenAI API key.
Q: Why do I need an OpenAI API key?
A: The AI interviewers and natural voice are powered by OpenAI's GPT and TTS APIs. You use your own API key and pay OpenAI directly for usage. The typical cost is $0.10 per completed interview process.
Q: How do I get an OpenAI API key?
A: Go to https://platform.openai.com/api-keys, sign in, and create a new key. Paste it into the app under Settings when prompted.
Q: Does the app run on Mac and Windows?
A: Yes. One USB drive includes both Mac and Windows versions. Double-click "Run on Mac.command" or "Run on Windows.bat" depending on your computer.
Q: Can I copy the app to my computer?
A: No. The app is licensed to run only from the original USB drive. Copying it to your hard drive will not work due to USB binding protection.
Q: What if I lose my USB drive?
A: One additional USB business card will be shipped to you for the cost of postage ($5). Your old license key will be revoked and a new one issued. Contact tyler@cybernoweducation.com.
Q: How do I add my resume?
A: When setting up the job, paste your resume text. The AI uses it to personalize questions and feedback.
Q: Can I practice for a specific job?
A: Yes. Paste the full job description when setting up the job. The AI tailors questions to that role and evaluates your fit.
Q: How long does each interview take?
A: Recruiter: 15-20 min. Manager & Team: 45-60 min each. Director: 30-45 min. You can end early by pressing "End Interview" when ready.
Q: Does it work without a microphone?
A: You can type responses instead of speaking. Voice input is optional but especially recommended for realistic practice.
Q: How do I update the application?
A: The app checks for updates on launch. If an update is available, you'll see a notification. Updates are delivered through the licensing server.
Q: My license says "already activated on another device." What do I do?
A: Each license activates on one device (tied to the USB hardware). The Mac and Windows apps on the same USB share one activation.
Q: Where can I get help?
A: Email tyler@cybernoweducation.com or visit https://www.cybernoweducation.com
